Best Cuisinart coffee maker ever.

This is a replacement for my old Cuisinart coffee maker which I had for about six years or so (the predecessor to this model). I loved my old one even with some of the little quirks it had. It beat out any Braun or Krupp pot which I had ever owned. This new updated model is a winner.

We just bought this Bunn coffee maker to replace one that had been in use for almost fifteen years. We average two pots of coffee per day. Prorate $100 over 15 years. Not real expensive per year. Our old Bunn failed because I didn’t use common sense when handling it.

Though this claim cannot be agreed to be completely true, the coffee maker does a decent latte preparation job anyway.

The outlook of this coffee maker is that of a standard one. There are no extra design elements or illustrious designs around the coffee maker. It has a simple structure and comes in black color combined with a bit of metallic silver on the borders and buttons. The carafe is transparent and fits nicely at the base of the coffee maker. There is thumb push button at the carafe’s opening which helps while pouring out the contents. The handle bundled with the carafe is made out of strong material too and is comfortable to hold. Also, the equipment is programmable which saves time and effort for its users. It has two filters in it – one is the gold foil filter for coffee making purpose and a charcoal filter for water purification.

The taste of the coffee produced is pretty good. The carafe which fills in the coffee mixture can handle up to 12 cups of coffee and is made out of glass. The carafe’s heat resistance is fine and the handle provides good support, though it could have been better if the handle would not be entirely made out of glass. Its drip tray at the base of the carafe and the water container can be removed out and placed back easily. So, if you have lengthier containers, you can fit them on to the coffee maker without the drip plate. The model comes in a combination of black and metallic silver color. The body of the machine is black and the programming panel is in metallic silver shade.

The programming features and the functions that can be controlled are pretty commendable. It has a small LCD screen whose display is enhanced with a light blue back light. Other than the standard off and on buttons, you will find buttons, to set clocks, indicate quantity and temperature and set other automatic off and on operations. Other than these, you will find the pause brew function. This will give you fresh flavored coffee just before the complete brewing is done. There are indicators given to tell the users when it is time to put water or when the system is on or off, or when the hot water is ready. All these automatic and programmable functions bring in lot of comfort and variety in coffee preparation process.

The machine scores well in all aspects except for one main point, maintenance. Though there is a self clean process for internal container cleaning, the exterior cleaning is tedious since there are no detachable parts in the machine. This results in a tedious maintenance procedure of taking and putting back the whole unit when you want to clean it. Even better than I expected.

I looked at a LOT of different coffee makers before deciding on this model. Buying a coffee maker has to be one of the hardest things to buy. The problems come in because everyone has a different take on what coffee is supposed to taste like and unfortunately many of them are dead wrong.

The most important thing for anyone that really enjoys coffee the way it is supposed to be made is that the water heats up to a sufficient temperature (greater than 190 degrees). This allows for the best flavor to be extracted from the coffee ground without that bitter taste that you get when the temperature is too low. Since most people don’t know that you don’t find that information in most reviews.

I found that information in the good reviews for this product and it had an overall rating of 4.5 at the time that I purchased it but I was a bit concerned with some of the bad reviews. They pointed to things like the carafe leaking, the hot water dispenser side leaking or not functioning correctly, bad tasting water, etc. Well, I’m happy to report that I have not seen any of these problems.

13. Cuisinart DCC-2650 Brew Central 12-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker Review

Cuisinart DCC-2650 is a coffeemaker which is programmable and has automatic functions too. Its brewing capacity per session is 12 cups. It is available in a combination of metallic silver and black colors. Most of the body is of metallic silver color. The coffee maker unit looks more like a CPU of a desktop computer, rectangular and proportionally designed. The front side of the coffee maker has the programming button panel at the top and the bottom is reserved for placing the carafe.

The carafe is good enough. It can aptly hold the 12 cups of coffee brewed by the machine at a time. There is also temperature control system given for the carafe. You can use these controls to select the temperature in which you want the carafe to be or rather the temperature of the coffee in the carafe. There are 3 options for this, low, medium and high. Shower head technique is used to brew the coffee. This means that the water gets spread evenly and there by the temperature of the water is retained consistently through out the brewing process. This not just adds on to the even temperature but also renders tasty coffee.

The programmable functions of the coffee maker are decent. Not very sophisticated, but is good enough for basic functionality. It has automatic switch on and switch off options, there is self-cleaning functionality, you can program the clock for automatic settings and also set the number of cups of coffee you need. You can also have mildly brewed coffee by using the brew pause function which pauses the process for a while before actual completion and renders you fresh coffee. The water is filtered through the charcoal water filter that is used in this equipment. This ensures good taste in your coffee and also makes sure the water impurities are gotten rid of. The coffee is brewed through a gold tone permanent filter.

The coffee maker prepares good coffee and has good basic programmable functions. But the manufacturing material used to build this unit doesn’t seem to be of good quality. The material is susceptible to damages if not monitored properly. This means that the quality is in question in the long run. Also, the different temperatures that can be set for coffee mixture are not really different from each other. There is not much of difference between low and medium, and medium and high. Yes, you can see a bit of difference between low and high, but nothing very significant. The audio indicators are good and helpful but it would have been better if they could have been louder. If you are in close proximity of the coffee maker, you can hear the signal, but if you are in another room, the signal is heard in low volume.

Overall the machine is a decent one. It has good user helpful features that can be easily understood and applied. It is not a very high quality machine. Nevertheless it is a decent choice and can be given a try.

THIS IS THE LATEST AND GREATEST MODEL

Several weeks ago,my Cuisinart 12 coffeemaker poured out it’s last cup of coffee. I purchased the DCC 2650 because of the fast brew, visual water table and appearance. I want you to know I had a model many years ago and when it retired; I purchased another upscale brand which let me down.

The purchase of Cuisinart is based on the ability of cuisinart designers who build a better machine. This is way easier for me because I love to be able to to see the level of the water from the outside. Actually, that feature has been on my wish list for cuisinart. The button plaement on the top around the clock is functional and easy to use.

The reg or bold button works like a dream and the pot stays on for four hours which I prefer to other coffemakers which shut down after 2 or 3 hrs. I do not use the auto turn on or the grab it quick cup feature. I like the carafe heat temp on the right which allows a person to have warm to very hot coffee. I purchased the burr grinder from cuisinart.

I replaced the cuisinart blade grinder and believe me this machine is a great companion to this coffeemaker. Now, I would never tell anyone how to spend their money but if you are on the fence, GO FOR IT!

So, my review is to the many people that didn’t read the manual and see that if you are only making a few cups of coffee there is a 1-4 cups select button so the coffee is stronger because with a small amount of water running through it there is an extra demand on the maker I just made the best cup of coffee I’ve had in 3 years with my new cuisinart coffee on demand.

First I ran 12 cups of water through the machine after soaking my filter for 20 minutes. Set the machine to 1-4 cups and pressed on. I did , because of past experience but an xtra bit of water in the machine to account for coffee filter basket saturation.

Both of these traits enable the machine to provide good coffee in very less time.

The internal parts of the coffee maker are composed of good materials. There is a stainless steel water tank which stores water. The feature I appreciate the most in a Bunn coffee maker is that it produces water at a controlled temperature. Coffee has a better flavor if the water temperature is between 180 and 190 degrees. Over 190 degrees and the coffee flavor becomes bitter, below 180 degrees and the strength is decreased. The Bunn gives hot water of the correct temperature immediately and through out the brewing. “Gift for my wife”

I got this as a Christmas gift for my wife. So far we’ve only tried the latte macciato and the hot chocolate (cocochino) flavors but she likes both of them. The machine is easy enough to use, although an auto shut off option may be worth the extra money (the creativa model has this option). As it is you have to decide when to turn off the machine so you have that control over the strength of the coffee but its hard to get the reccommended amount. The only complaint I have is that amazon says:

“Everything you need to make a hot or cold drink is contained in our easy to use capsules, your new system come with a variety box of 16 capsules, a cappuccino cup and saucer, and a latte macchiato glass mug”

Which is partly true because I got the variety box but I didn’t get the cappuccino cup, saucer or latte macciato glass mug. I didn’t lower my rating since this has no effect on the coffee maker but I wouldn’t have paid what I did if I knew I wouldn’t be getting these items. I think its an error on Amazon’s part and not a missing item because the box did not mention the cup, saucer or mug being included. I will update my review after I hear back from Amazon on the issue.

I was one of the first customers of this STX brewer. Full disclosure: Bunn awarded me this Bunn as a result of me winning their video contest earlier this summer. I have used Bunn brewers for about 10 years. This particular thermal model is solidly built compared to their last model which was all plastic, and would kind of bend at the slightest pressure if any were given on the top of the machine. Not so with this one.

The quality can even be seen in the grounds basket – not your usual thin plastic basket. This one is very sturdy thick plastic, surrounded by stainless steel. After a few days of use here are my comments for the C100T and Aerocinno. I am using the combo in a small office setting. The no mess of the espresso machine is great. The shots are really good and consistently good. The machine is very simple to use. Fill w/ water, turn on drop in espresso capsule, push button, and you are done. The only drawback I can mentinon is the capsules must be ordered from nespresso directly.

“You Will Feel High Class And Snobby”

I purchased this Keurig B66 from Costco for $129.99 in December of 2009. It came with a case of free coffee and a reusable filter. A great deal at the time. After about 1 year of use I believe it is the greatest coffee machine ever. So far so good. And I mean really good (the coffee). I don’t bother using those K-cups, I buy whole bean coffee from Costco (Kirkland espresso brand roasted by Starbucks), I grind it myself as needed for a week, and I use the reusable My K-Cup filter. The My K-Cup filters can be purchased at Target for about $15. The ability to control the amount of coffee, water level, and temperature of the water to make one cup will give you the best home made cup of coffee you will ever have. I love the coffee I get at sit down restaurants, I don’t know why. I always felt that the high temperature of their coffee machines was the trick. The Keurig lets you set the temperature up to 192 degrees. And the flavor from that setting is great. Here’s how it works:

You fill the water tank, put your K-Cup in the holder, push down the handle, put a cup under the nozzle, select the size of cup you want, and press start. The machine will sound like it is grumbling, think of the sound that the stomach of a 500 pound man that is really hungry makes. This is the machine sucking in the water, then it heats it up and starts pouring water through your K-Cup and down into your coffee cup. The machine has 3 cup size selections. Small = 3/4 cup, medium = 1 cup, large = 1 1/4cup. So small = less water and stronger flavor, and large = more water and weaker flavor.

But wait the fun doesn’t stop there. You want just hot water? You can do that too. Now put that reusable filter in there empty (to keep hot water from splashing) and you can have a cup of hot water. Have you ever sipped hot water before? It’s great, it feels cleansing. Or put some tea bags in there if you want, weirdo. Hot water works for so many things.
